Overview
Ensemble was selected by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) Public Safety Communications Research (PSCR) Division to produce a comprehensive UAS Technology Landscape Report. The report was aimed at understanding the current marketplace for Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) technology, identifying technological advancements and conceptual plans, and documenting successful and unsuccessful attempts to implement and display the technology. The report includes written findings and infographics outlining the data collected from subject matter experts and literature review.

Approach
Ensemble’s team of experienced researchers and technology experts undertook an extensive study of UAS technology to produce the report. The team analyzed the available academic, technical, and application-focused literature and consulted with subject matter experts to identify the latest technological advancements and conceptual plans for UAV and other parts of the system. The report compared UAS technology to traditional technologies, highlighting performance-related advantages and disadvantages. It also included use cases for successful and unsuccessful attempts to implement and display the technology, including those for public safety.
