In the final hours of the Fiscal Year 2022, Congress recently signed the Small Business Innovation Research SBIR and STTR Extension Act of 2022, extending a multi-billion dollar program that has fueled small businesses for decades and serves as a mechanism for federally-funded research and development across most agencies and sectors. This reconfirmed commitment to both innovation and small businesses’ success means that companies like Ensemble can continue helping government agencies advance American scientific and technological discovery, research, and development.
The Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) program is a competitive funding program that helps small businesses conduct research and development (R&D) work. It provides funding to small businesses to develop innovative technologies in various fields, including public health and aerospace. The goal of the SBIR program is to encourage small businesses to engage in R&D that has the potential for commercialization and to support the development of new technologies that address government needs.
Our ongoing SBIR work includes advancing space weather modeling and analysis for the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, which we are currently performing under a Phase II award. Through the SBIR program reauthorization, Ensemble is able to maintain its position in this innovation ecosystem committed to the advancement of American scientific research and technology.
