Technical Project Manager
Location: [Remote or Hybrid]
Reports To: VP of Digital Transformation
About Ensemble Ensemble is a dynamic and rapidly growing technology company specializing in digital transformation, artificial intelligence, and advanced data solutions. We partner with highly complex organizations across the federal and commercial sectors to build innovative technology that solves their most critical challenges.
The Role We are seeking an experienced and highly capable Technical Project Manager to support our expanding portfolio of digital transformation and AI initiatives. Reporting directly to the VP of Digital Transformation, you will manage high-impact projects for key accounts, including the USDA, NASA, and major commercial industrial clients.
This is a unique hybrid role designed for an experienced engineer looking to broaden their skillset and managerial experience. While the majority of your day-to-day responsibilities will focus on project management, client relations, and strategic oversight, you will also have the opportunity to make meaningful individual contributions. For the right candidate, this role offers the chance to stay technically sharp by rolling up your sleeves in data engineering, software development, and research & development (R&D).
Key Responsibilities
Project & Account Management (75%)
- End-to-End Delivery: Lead the planning, execution, and delivery of complex AI and digital transformation projects on time, within scope, and on budget.
- Client Leadership: Serve as the primary point of contact for key stakeholders at the USDA, NASA, and commercial industrial clients. Build trusted relationships and translate complex technical concepts into clear business value.
- Strategic Alignment: Work closely with the VP of Digital Transformation to align project outcomes with Ensemble’s strategic goals and client objectives.
- Team Enablement: Direct cross-functional teams of engineers, data scientists, and analysts. Facilitate agile ceremonies, remove blockers, and manage project risks and resources.
- Performance Tracking: Develop and maintain comprehensive project documentation, financial tracking, and reporting metrics.
Technical & Individual Contribution (25%)
- Hands-on Engineering: Contribute individually to project deliverables by stepping into data engineering pipelines, software development tasks, or system architecture design as needed.
- Research & Development: Lead and participate in R&D efforts to evaluate new AI models, machine learning techniques, and modern cloud technologies to keep Ensemble and our clients at the cutting edge.
- Technical Roadmapping: Provide architectural guidance and technical mentorship to the team, ensuring best practices in code quality, security, and scalability.
Required Qualifications
- Experience: 10+ years of professional experience spanning technical project management, software engineering, and/or data science.
- Technical Acumen: Demonstrated hands-on background in software development (e.g., Python, Java, C++), data engineering, or AI/ML deployments.
- Client Management: Proven track record of successfully managing large-scale technology projects for federal agencies (experience with NASA or USDA is highly desirable) and large commercial enterprises.
- Methodology: Strong expertise in Agile/Scrum methodologies and modern software development lifecycles (SDLC).
- Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to bridge the gap between deeply technical teams and executive-level stakeholders.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
Preferred Qualifications
- Active Project Management Professional (PMP), Certified ScrumMaster (CSM), or equivalent certifications.
- Experience navigating federal compliance, security, and contracting standards.
- Familiarity with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and modern data architectures.
- Existing federal security clearance or the ability to obtain one.
